Kyocera Hydro Life Overview
The Kyocera Hydro Life is a budget-friendly smartphone released in 2014, catering to users who prioritize durability and water resistance over cutting-edge features. Built to withstand the elements, the Hydro Life boasts an IP57 rating, making it dustproof and submersible for up to 30 minutes in one meter of water. It also meets Military Standard 810G, ensuring it can handle shocks, drops, and extreme temperatures.
Under the hood, the Hydro Life packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. While these specs are modest by today’s standards, they were sufficient for basic tasks like browsing the web, checking emails, and using social media apps at the time of release. The phone comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expandable via a microSD card.
The Hydro Life features a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. While not the sharpest, the display offers decent viewing angles and is suitable for everyday use. On the back, you’ll find a basic 5-megapixel camera capable of capturing decent photos in good lighting conditions. The phone runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a dated version of the Android operating system that lacks the features and security updates found on newer phones.
